Living in the Wedge

Community

The South Wedge Planning Committee (SWPC) works to build a strong community where residents can connect with each other and help make the South Wedge a better place to live, work and play. Throughout the year, SWPC coordinates volunteers on a host of projects to improve the neighborhood. On a street by street basis, SWPC seeks to organize neighbors to address issues and build the sense of community on a grassroots level.

SWPC engages the community in a variety of ways. The bi-monthly Wedge Newspaper keeps neighbors informed of people, places and events in the South Wedge and southeast Rochester. The South Wedge Farmers Market connects local farmers and artisan food businesses with consumers. It helps to provides access to fresh fruits and vegetables from June through October of each year alongside the Genesee River on Mt. Hope Avenue. Each season South Wedge Victory Gardens provide the opportunity for neighbors to grow their own fresh fruits and vegetables.

Please check out page two of the Wedge Newspaper online for a SWPC schedule, and stop by a  board or committee meeting. You’ll learn ways you can make a difference in our community. Together we can keep building a better South Wedge.
